2018 AMCI Global Trusted Brands, DriveShare, and Indy 500 | #333

THE DRIVE with Alan Taylor | #333

In a world with endless options, how is it possible for us to choose just one car? Well, thankful there are companies out there that are trying to make these tough decisions easy. We begin the hour with Chief Strategy Officer for AMCI Global, who details their 2018 Trusted Automotive Brand Study. The automotive industry has already established quality and satisfaction but when it comes to the emotion behind the trust we put in brands, there is still long way to go. Chevrolet, Kia, and Genesis – are just a few of the rides that made the most trusted list; listen for the rest! Next, we hear from Peter Zawadzki, Director of DriveShare by Hagerty, about this classic car rental program that can take you on a cruise down memory lane. DriveShare gives you the opportunity to either rent that collector car of your dreams for a weekend, wedding, or a multitude of other events. It also allows owners to stretch the legs of the beautiful cars they have collecting dust in their garage. Are you interested in buying, zooming around, or taking photos with a gorgeous classic? After that, we catch up with automotive journalist, BJ Killeen, about her recent trip to New York to explore some of the top automotive manufacturers’ experiential facilities that are not about selling you a car but about helping you discover more about the brand. She also reviews the 2019 Hyundai Veloster, and explains that this car has really taken on a great refresh. Headroom, connectivity, comfort, and even five trim levels have made the Veloster better than it has ever been. Then, we talk with Alan about the 2018 F-Type 400 Sport AWD Coupe that he just drove. The design, body style, and flavor of the car is beautiful and the V6 supercharge engine makes it a snappy little car. It has some amazing technology that will allow you to use a GoPro camera to take real-time video from driving the car to social. Alan raves about this fantastic machine! Switching lanes, Steven Cole Smith gets us up to speed on what we can look forward to from the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600. He tells us that the media at the Indy 500 will certainly be keeping their eye on Danica Patrick, and many believe that this is her final race. Steven then shares that there is not much to look forward to from the Coca-Cola 600 but if he had to put his money on anyone then it would have to be Chase Elliot. Lastly, he tells us that he is about to make his way to England to view the Global RallyCross that will soon be making its way to the United States. Join us for an action-packed episode with the automotive news you don’t want to miss!

2019 Hyundai Veloster: More Fun, More Flair

Written by BJ Killeen

Hyundai is on a winning streak. Recently introduced products like Ioniq and Kona show how the company is rolling sevens, producing a great batch of vehicles that are affordable, reliable, and fun to drive. One car Hyundai previously created to appeal to those looking for the “fun to drive” first was the Veloster, a three-door subcompact that was as much fun to toss around the twisties as a sports car costing twice as much. For 2019, the Veloster has been completely redesigned, and now delivers more of everything it had before.

Kia Stinger GT, Silvercar App, and Acura NSX | #330

THE DRIVE with Alan Taylor | Episode #330

Performance, utility, and economy – automotive manufacturers are going above and beyond to exceed consumer expectations. We begin with the perfect example: automotive journalist, George Kennedy, shares his drive experience in the astounding 2018 Kia Stinger GT. With Brembo brakes and a V6 twin-turbocharged engine, Kia’s reputation as a ‘discount car company’ is a thing of the past. George also touches on Ford’s decision to cut most of their sedans, believing they may have been a bit shortsighted. Automotive journalist, BJ Killeen, also offers insight on Ford’s sedan decision after a recent stop at a red light had her surrounded by only trucks and SUVs. Shifting gears, BJ sounds off about her test drive of the 290-HP, 3.5L V6 Lexus RX 350L. While she enjoyed many aspects of this ride, such as the fit and finish and handling, she had a few points that Lexus could improve on with the future models. Next, we catch up with Karl Brauer who calls from the inside of an Acura NSX on his way to the 2018 Drive Towards a Cure “California Adventure”, a charitable event benefiting for Parkinson’s research. Karl pits his 2006 Ford GT against the super handling AWD of the Acura NSX in a surprising review. Then, Luke Schneider, CEO of Silvercar, explains his rental car app which was recently acquired by Audi. Through the app, customers are able to effortlessly rent an Audi A4 or Q5 for an all-inclusive fee ranging from $59-$79 a day. (Yes, all of the rentals are all silver.) Lastly, we catch up with Chris Duke celebrates the 10th anniversary of Motorz TV, announces a brand new episode featuring Alan’s Dodge Demon, and discusses the close of National Car Care Month. Plus, as the ambassador of GM’s BuyPower Card, Chris tells us of the surveys they have been conducting with the help of their patrons. Tune in now to pump your mind full of the latest automotive knowledge!
