Horsepower, groovin’ tunes, and the open road sound like the perfect day in many gearheads’ minds. We are fortunate enough to begin the show with John Oates of Hall & Oates, who is a real car guy! He answers some questions from THE DRIVE with Alan Taylor’s fans on Facebook and tells us how he fell in love with Porsches. John also dives into explaining the new project car he is working on, a Porsche 356, with builder Rod Emery who invented the original 356 Outlaw concept. John also fills us in on his upcoming solo and Hall & Oates tour so you can know where to see these classic artists near you.  Next, we are joined by automotive journalist, BJ Killeen, who shares her review of the 2018 Ford Expedition that she and her husband had the pleasure of taking on a cross-country trip. She explains the comfort level, the incredible power of the 3.5L turbocharged V6 engine, and the 28-gallon fuel tank which achieved 24-mpg highway. BJ and Alan also briefly touch on the newly unveiled Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye that will be hitting the production line soon. Changing gears, Brian Moody of Autotrader is here to sound off about the newly introduced Chevrolet Blazer, which surprised his expectations. He then gives us a list of the “7 New Convertibles Under $40,000 for 2018” which include the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, Jeep Wrangler, Mazda Miata and more. After that Brian details the Fastest-Depreciating Cars in 2018 such as the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cadillac SRX, and more – all of which have depreciated by 50% after three years. Mark Reuss’ Crash, FCA’s Five Year Plan, and Best Fuel Sippers | #335

It’s time to talk cars and we catch up with some of our favorites from the automotive industry. We begin the show with automotive journalist, BJ Killeen, who explains Mark Reuss’ recent crash in a Pace car at the Detroit Grand Prix. The Executive Vice President of Global Product Development wrecked a $120,000 2019 Corvette ZR1 when he lost control around a tight left-hand turn. He didn’t suffer any major injuries but we are sure this is something that will go down in automotive history. Shifting gears, Hollywood car consultant, Josh Hancock of JoshCAR, is back and brings us the latest from the star-studded automotive scene. He recently helped NBC bring in a display of Ferraris for the Magnum P.I. reboot upfronts, including the original 1982 Ferrari 308 GTS and a 2018 Ferrari 488. Josh raves about how fun it was to drive the 2018 and shares that many people were taking their picture with these iconic cars at the display. He also tells us that FCA has released their five year plan and they have basically said that they’re discontinuing Chrysler cars. It will be interesting to see what the future will be for FCA’s other brands. Alan and Josh then get into a fun debate about the latest pony car wars and decide which ones are their favorites. Next, Autotrader’s Executive Editor, Brian Moody, shares their list of “12 Fuel Sippers to Fight Rising Gas Prices” for 2018. The Chevy Bolt, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Ford Fusion Hybrid, Honda Kona are just a few on the list of cars that could save you some dollars on fuel. Brian talks about some rare rides that are for sale on Autotrader and ponders how much some of these are actually worth. Brian then lists Autotrader’s best certified pre-owned vehicle manufacturers which include Lexus and Porsche. He and Alan also review the 2019 Subaru Ascent which can seat up to eight people and still has all the great Subaru characteristics. Then, we chat with the ever wild Dennis Collins who updates us on the latest happenings at Collins Bros Jeep. Every Friday morning, he does a Coffee Walk where viewers can follow him around the shop and see the projects they’re putting their hard work into. He also raves about an up-fit they just did to his Jeep Trackhawk that took it up to about 805-HP. Automotive journalist, George Kennedy, joins us to review the 2018 Land Rover Discovery and he was impressed. He got behind the wheel of the gas-powered V6 model and raves about its ability to truly go anywhere. It also has an amazing towing capacity and an extra package that features Advanced Tow Assist which can help you park a trailer safely. Are you ready to adventure in luxury? Next, Ed Justice, Jr. of Justice Brothers updates us on the results of the Indy 500. Then, we hear the latest on the 2018 Bandit Run from Restore a Muscle Car’s, Dave Hall, which will take place June 20-23. He tells us that they will be doing some events with Burt Reynolds in his hometown of Jupiter, Florida. It’s time for all of you Trans Am fans to pull them out of the garage and hit the road. Changing lanes, Executive Publisher of Kelley Blue Book, Karl Brauer, begins his interview by discussing the Honda Sensing technology, which has combined five features to create a fairly advanced driver assistance package. He then goes on to discuss his brand new set of street tires for the Dodge Demon and explains that they are fairly priced for quality, high performance Pirelli P ZEROS. Keeping in tune with performance, he explains that the 2020 Mustang GT 500 may give the Dodge Demon a run for its money in the future, and not just in a straight line. Karl then covers the recent Twitter unraveling featuring the media against Elon Musk. Switching gears, automotive journalist, Brian Armstead of Roadfly, gushes about his test drive in the 2019 Hyundai Veloster, and explains that he, at 6’9”, fits comfortably in this great ride. The Veloster is a tight package and this upgraded, updated, refreshed Veloster will be a hit with the young folks that want to tune their cars and add their own expressions. The base MSRP is $18,500 and can even jump up to the Ultimate for $28,150, giving consumers an amazing range and all the bells and whistles for the top trim model. Last but not least, automotive journalist, Jason Fogelson, reviews the 2018 Kia Rio 5-door and tells us that he was pleasantly surprised. The Rio has base price of $16,400 and a top trim EX package coming in at $18,700, which are both a steal for this amazing car. He then goes on to discuss safety on the road as the season of road trips approach us. Jason discusses tire safety and gives helpful tips on how to keep an eye on their integrity.
