THE DRIVE with Alan Taylor | Episode #367

While Alan was in New York providing the audience of  LIVE with Kelly and Ryan with rapid fire automotive information on exclusive debuts, the industry was awash with news. Alan also didn’t get to attend the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), but thankfully Founder, Editor, and Publisher of Rides and Drives, Harvey Briggs, fills us in on some of the SUVs, the Cadillac CT5, BAC Mono, and other exciting vehicles he saw at the show. Also, learn about Alan’s test drive of the amazing 2020 Kia Telluride, and Harvey’s ride in the BMW M5 Competition. Next up, President of Boss One Media and ALL OUT Live, Brian Bossone, tells us about the first ever drag race game show, made for the grassroots motorsports enthusiast. Changing lanes, Collins Bros. Jeep and Black Mountain Jeep Owner, Dennis Collins, gives us an update on his businesses, “Bring A Trailer”, One Lap of America, and his most recent barn finds. Then, we chat about waning public interest in electric vehicles, Ford’s deal with Rivian, and Tesla ’s bad stock and production performance with automotive journalist, BJ Killeen. Shifting gears, JoshCAR Hollywood Car Consultant, Josh Hancock, shares his favorite displays and cars from NYIAS, including Subaru’s spectacular forest display. Also, Josh informs us about the Petersen Automotive Museum’s new exhibit: Hollywood Dream Machines. Closing out the show, Kelley Blue Book, Autotrader, Dealer.com Executive Publisher, Karl Brauer, discusses why he thinks there might not be a road back from where Tesla has fallen in this past quarter, and how Ford’s exceeding of expectations and partnership with Rivian set them up to dominate in the future. Alan is slated to appear on ABC’s LIVE with Kelly and Ryan, April 15th through the 19th, ahead of the New York International Auto Show, which means we have tons of auto news! Starting the show, Executive Publisher for Kelley Blue Book, Autotrader, Dealer.com, Karl Brauer, brings us the details of the brand new, tough, and rugged Ford Escape. We also learn about the state of the automotive industry (don’t worry, it’s doing just fine), and the finalization of the Ford GT production run. Changing lanes, JoshCAR Hollywood Car Consultant, Josh Hancock, dispels the myth that big auto shows are going to start to die off, reviews the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, and tells us about Vaughn Gittin Jr’s appearance at Galpin Ford. Next up, LIVE with Kelly and Ryan Executive Producer, Michael Gelman, gives us a preview of the cars and categories we can expect to see when tuning into LIVE with Kelly and Ryan for Auto Week. Watch Alan unveil 20 of the newest cars from the New York Auto Show while attempting to avoid a repeat of the Pontiac C6 backseat incident. First up, automotive journalist for Autoweek, Automobile Magazine, Grassroots Motorsports, Steven Cole Smith, fills us in on his test drive of the Ferrari 488 Pista. This $350,000 supercar made Steven feel very out of place at Dollar General, but he got over it when he revved it’s 710-HP twin-turbo engine. Steven also discusses Automobile Magazine’s All-Stars top picks, including the Ferrari 812 Superfast, Hyundai VELOSTER N, and Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Changing lanes, Kia Motors America Chief Designer, Tom Kearns, shares the inspiration behind their biggest, boldest SUV ever, the Kia Telluride. This gorgeous eight passenger vehicle makes 291-HP with a 3.8L V6 engine and is available in all-wheel drive, starting at just $31,690. Then, automotive journalist, BJ Killeen, compares and contrasts the MAZDA CX-9 with the Kia Sorento; when all is said and done, she prefers the Kia Sorento, but encourages us all to test drive to compare for ourselves.
