THE DRIVE with Alan Taylor | Episode #362
If there’s one thing that the Swiss people are known for, it’s having a lot of money! Which is why it is fitting that the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) would showcase some of the wackiest, most outlandish, and of course, ridiculously expensive concept cars on the planet. Reporting from Geneva, Switzerland, so we don’t have to, Autotrader Executive Editor, Brian Moody, fills us in on some of the craziest concept cars he’s witnessed. It isn’t all highfalutin dream-cars in Geneva; the Mazda CX-30, Subaru e-Boxer engine, and Honda e Prototype have much more grounded philosophies in mind. Changing gears, Executive Publisher for Autotrader, Kelley Blue Book, Dealer.com, Karl Brauer, gives us his drive review of his new Ford GT (finally!), and discusses electric vehicles and the effects of trade tariffs on the automotive industry. Next, Co-founder of CarTender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, U.S. News and World Report, George Kennedy III, makes a case for electric cars and showers praise upon the 2019 Dodge Charger SXT AWD. Closing the show, automotive journalist, BJ Killeen, offers her opinion about some of the strange (and amazing) designs at the Geneva Motor Show. While the Hispano Suiza Carmen and Engler F.F. Super Quad may be goofier looking than Donald Duck’s best buddy, cars like the Bugatti La Voiture Noire and Kia Imagine are inspired and beautiful.

THE DRIVE with Alan Taylor | Episode #357
As January turns to February, the industry is awash with news, scandals, and car companies struggling to stake out their place. Starting off the show, Kelley Blue Book Director of Industry Insights, Michael Harley, fills us in on his recent test drives of the new 2020 Porsche 911 and 2020 Porsche Panamera. We also tackle Porsche’s foray into the electric vehicle (EV) with the renamed Porsche Taycan (previously ‘Mission E’), and Michael shares a couple of wacky experiences he had riding in autonomous cars. Next, while we may have missed the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, MI, Autorader Executive Editor, Brian Moody, remained faithful and is here to give us some highlights from the show. Also, Brian questions whether all of these automakers that are pumping out three-row SUVs will be faced with a rude awakening when consumer price fatigue sets in. Changing gears, Executive Publisher for Kelley Blue Book, Autorader, and Dealer.com, Karl Brauer, discusses the Ford GT resale scandal and his new 2019 Ford GT (which went straight from the delivery truck to the detail shop). Then, Automotive Expert, “The Car Coach”, and President of North American Car of the Year (NACTOY) Awards, Lauren Fix, shares the winners of the Car, Truck, and Utility vehicle categories, which were revealed at NAIAS recently. Lauren also gives a preview of what’s in store at the Chicago Auto Show as Alan blows her mind with statistics from Barrett-Jackson’s most recent Scottsdale auction. Closing the show, automotive journalist, BJ Killeen, discusses Cadillac’s decision to focus on electric vehicles, Elon Musk and Tesla’s shaky public perception, Lincoln’s amazing concierge services, and Carlos Ghosn’s Japanese imprisonment. Tune in for the latest automotive insights.

THE DRIVE with Alan Taylor | #341
Monterey Car Week is fast approaching and promises to bring us the sexiest, classiest, hottest cars of the year in a slew of amazing events. First, Hollywood Car Consultant, Josh Hancock of JoshCAR, is working on the upcoming Quentin Tarantino film starring Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.” Allegedly, production crews shut down seven blocks of Hollywood Boulevard for five days for a practical effect film shoot for the movie. Josh reveals his favorite part of Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance – the classics! Also, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class is an impressive, relatively inexpensive luxury SUV, but Josh thinks most of what is found in this machine could be accomplished in a sedan. Then, Motorz TV host, Chris Duke, shares his experiences at the Craftsman Launch event, including finally meeting Chip Foose, racing go-karts against Ryan Preece, Erik Jones, Richie Crampton, and Wayne Carini. Switching gears, Chris Duke lets us know about his new project for Motorz TV – a Chevrolet C10. Next, Fisker Inc. Chairman and CEO, Henrik Fisker, divulges what he can about the projects he’s working on. While most details are still under wraps, we glean details about the new all-electric shuttle, Fisker’s new high-volume, affordable electric vehicle, and partnerships he has in the works. To close the show, Kelley Blue Book’s Executive Publisher, Karl Brauer, discusses what most excites him about Monterey Car Week, including Ford’s announcement of their next heritage model and $40-50+ million Ferrari 250 GTO. Changing lanes, Karl Brauer explains how Kelley Blue Book can provide such accurate values on cars of all makes and models using data that they pull from public auction results, dealer auctions, dealer-to-individual sales, and the information provided to them by Cox Automotive Group. Karl also got to drive the 2018 McLaren 720S and was blown away by how well they were able to balance performance with comfort – no car can do both as well as the McLaren 720S. Are you ready for Monterey Car Week?

THE DRIVE with Alan Taylor | Episode #306
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – they don’t really make a bad car nowadays. Technology has changed the way we look at our cars, and manufacturers are stepping up to the plate. We begin the hour chatting with Karl Brauer, Executive Publisher for Kelley Blue Book, who gushes over his test drive of the Lexus LC 500, describes the North American Car of the Year judging, and raves about the beautifully redesigned Toyota Camry. Then, we hit the track with Ed Justice, Jr., President and CEO of Justice Brothers, Inc., who updates us on the IMSA races, shares his opinion on Formula E racing, and voices his thoughts on the future of mobility. Next, Alan gives us an overview on what we can look forward to at the Las Vegas Barrett-Jackson, which will include a slew of charity cars. After that, automotive journalist BJ Killeen fills us in on the Hyundai Shopper Assurance program, and gives us an inside look at being an automotive journalist. Then, we discuss modern vehicle technology and the ease (or difficulty) of infotainment interfaces with Kristin Kolodge, Executive Director of Driver Interaction and Human Machine Interface for J.D. Power. Last but certainly not least, Dennis Collins, Owner of Collins Bros. Jeep, describes an exciting collection of British Sports Cars he recently discovered in an abandoned barn, and the trucks he will be auctioning off at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas this week. Stay ahead of the curve. Listen now.
